September 2026 Newsletter

Summary

Dear sedaDNA enthusiasts,

Welcome to the September instalment of the sedaDNA newsletter. I hope that you have had a productive month. Through August we saw the publication of 4 papers, 2 preprints and 2 job positions. Save the date: the next sedaDNA conference will be held in Copenhagen, June 28–30, 2027. Registration and abstract submission details will follow soon. As always, if you have anything to announce, share or tell us about please don't hesitate to let us know using the forms at the bottom of the newsletter.

We hope that you have a great September,

The organising board

New Positions

A Staff Scientist or Research Consultant in Bioinformatics position is available at the Centre of Ancient Environmental Genomics at the Globe Institute, University of Copenhagen. The position is 3 years fixed-term where the candidate's role will include processing and analysing large-scale sequencing data, and designing and automating robust pipelines for data summarisation, visualisation, and quality control.

Application deadline is the 15th September 2026. If you'd like more information, please contact Thorfinn Sand Korneliussen or Mikkel Winther Pedersen.

A different Staff Scientist or Research Consultant in Bioinformatics and Genomic Reference Catalogue Development at Globe Institute position is also available at the Centre of Ancient Environmental Genomics and AEGIS, University of Copenhagen. This position is 4 years fixed-term, where the candidate will play a central role in developing large-scale genomic reference catalogues that capture the genomic diversity of life on Earth. The primary objective of the position is to identify, acquire, curate, and continuously expand collections of genomes and other relevant FASTA resources from public repositories, scientific initiatives, and other openly available sources worldwide.

Application deadline is also the 15th September 2026. If you'd like more information, please contact Thorfinn Sand Korneliussen.
